The BMW 3 Series GT is not the only new 3 series variant that the US market will soon have on sale. The German premium car maker is also announced a new addition to diesel variant line up for its US spec 3 Series of cars.
The new diesel 3-series variant has been christened as the 328d and will join the entry level 320i petrol, 3-series Sports Wagon, ActiveHybrid 3, the 328i petrol and the 335i petrol model in the US car market.
The latest addition to the 3 series line up isn’t a surprise because BMW previously announced that it would bring a 2.0-liter diesel four-cylinder engine to USA. It was an easy guess that the new motor would end up powering the 3 series and the US car market is finally close to getting the new diesel variant of the executive sedan. The 328d will have max power of 180 bhp and a peak torque figure of 280 lb-ft and is being expected to offer good fuel economy figures.
The 328d will be more efficient than the 335d variant of the last gen 3 series and the company says that the fuel economy figure “could well exceed 40 mpg.”.
