Your answer sounds just fine.
Play to what they are looking for, but also don’t forget that you should always use your own ideas–not someone else’s. Search your own goals and ideals. Do they fit in with the organization you are trying to get hired by? You can tell them that. Do you have something to offer that they aren’t aware of yet, or that your experience doesn’t show? Tell them that too. Don’t be too general and don’t be too “expected.” They are looking for ingenuity.

You should be honest on this type of question, yes, you should incorporate their mission statement in some manner but you should also just be flat out honest for a best fit. Use examples of how you’ve been a leader, talk about what you would bring to their organization and what you hope to gain from it. Basically they’re asking why should they pick you – what do you plan to bring to it, what specifically makes you an asset to them and what would you learn from it. It is a school organization, I wouldn’t stress too much about it.
