Concern merely by Horatio: Are there restrictions about purchasing a laptop in the USA that will be used permanently in Canada?
I am an American who has been shopping around for a HP Pavilion laptop for a close friend who lives in Canada. When I look at USA web sites, the model numbers end with “US”. When I look at Canadian web sites, the model numbers end in “CA”. Does this mean “US’ models are restricted for the USA and “CA” models are restricted for Canada?

& basically a laptop is meant for global operations and the biggest barrier is the wall plug / socket being shaped differently in various countries
voltage / frequency of ac input is not any issue cause the power adapters are auto sensing 100 – 240 vac, 50 / 60 hz
