When one of the first “affordable” DSLR’s (Nikon D100 at “only” $ 2,000) was introduced there was a 90 day delay if you had not been in a camera store and put your 10% down to assure a slot for the next cameras that were allocated to each camera store.

IF Canon has done a good job of ramping up the production of the 7D, those of us who are not in a big enough hurry to plunk down $ 210 (10% of the cost of the body) and get on a list, may start seeing them available on store shelves in one to six months, depending upon the demand and the production rate out of the Canon factoy.
